......and thank you for visiting my blog site. The information given here is designed to give you a brief overview as to my role as an Independent Funeral Celebrant and how you can contact me.In case you are not sure, I shall begin with a description of what my role as celebrant entails.

It would help at the outset to say that I am not a religious minister. As a celebrant I deliver services mainly for those deceased persons who, when alive, held no particular religious beliefs. These kind of funerals are increasingly being called 'personalised funeral services' and they can differ considerably from a more 'traditional' religious one.

The clue to the difference is in the description, 'personalised.' The services I deliver focus on the person being honoured and remembered. Much time is spent talking with family and friends of the deceased. Together we compile as much information as possible going back through childhood, where they grew up, schools and work career, likes and dislikes, what they were like as a person and so. In short, what made them the person they were?

I try to build as accurate a portrait of the person that the information I gain allows. All significant stories, anecdotes memories and thoughts are used in the service and later written into a wider biography which I then present to the family.
So you see, the service is all about the loved one who is being said goodbye to.

Also, each oration can be made even more appropriate with the inclusion of music, songs or poetry reflective of their unique personality and character and meaningful to the family.
Each service, then, is completely unique and tailor made for a highly personal and individual event.

ABOUT ME.................
.......I live in Leicester but will travel anywhere throughout the country.
I have a career background that includes work as a residential and field social worker; community development worker University Lecturer; freelance lecturer, writer and researcher. I have been employed as a cremator technician and Chapel Verger with a Midlands based crematorium. In addition to my role as Funeral Celebrant I also work as a bereavement counsellor, Hypnotherapist and Meditation Teacher.
